Sun Beam Trust publishes articles at sunbeamtrust.org. This policy explains what information reaches our servers when you read or interact with the site, why we hold it, who can see it, and the choices you have.
What comes to us and how
You can browse the site without telling us who you are. We do not run ads, affiliate tracking, analytics, or a newsletter, and we do not take orders or payments. There are no contact or signup forms on the site.
- Web server and CDN logs. Our hosting and caching/CDN layers record technical details of each request such as IP address, user agent, referrer sent by your browser, the page or file requested, and the time of access. This happens on any website and helps deliver the site, measure availability, and investigate problems.
- Comments. On many posts, comments may be open. If you choose to leave a comment, WordPress stores the comment text and the data you enter (name, email address, and optionally a website URL), along with your IP address and browser user agent to help with spam detection.
- Emails you send us. If you write to one of our published email addresses, we receive the contents of your message and the metadata your email service includes (such as sender address, recipient, time sent, and mail server information).
- Administrator logins. Account registration is closed. WordPress sets session cookies and stores activity logs for the single registered user who administers the site. This does not affect general visitors.
Cookies and local storage
sunbeamtrust.org uses only the cookies set by WordPress for its basic functions:
• If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies on your device so you do not have to retype them next time. These are convenience cookies on your device and can be cleared at any time in your browser.
• For administrators who sign in, WordPress sets authentication and session cookies required to maintain a logged-in session and access the dashboard.
We do not set analytics, advertising, or social media tracking cookies.
Why we keep information
We use the information described above to operate a fast and reliable website, protect the service from abuse, publish and moderate comments you choose to submit, reply to correspondence you send us, and comply with legal obligations.
Who can see it
Access to any personal data is limited to the site administrators and service providers that make the site work. That includes our web host and caching/CDN, which process server requests and store logs, and our email services when you correspond with us. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with third parties for their marketing.
How long we keep it
• Server and CDN logs are kept for operational, performance, and security reasons and are rotated or deleted on a routine schedule by those systems.
• If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are kept so it remains visible on the site unless we remove it during moderation or you ask us to delete it.
• Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to handle your request and maintain a record of our correspondence.
Your choices and rights
You can browse without cookies beyond those needed for basic WordPress functions, and you can disable or clear cookies in your browser.
If you have left a comment or corresponded with us, you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, object to certain processing, or ask us to delete it, subject to any obligations to keep records.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority in your region if you believe your rights have been infringed. We would appreciate the chance to address your concerns first.
Children
Our content is aimed at a general audience. We do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will address it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page. Material changes will apply going forward from the date of posting.
